The Northern Lights, also known as auroras, usually occur in – well– at high latitudes in the northern hemisphere. However, experts at the space weather prediction center are now saying that more southern dwellers might get a show due to an intense solar storm.

00:38the u.s can see them across northern states the midwest and as far west as oregon on thursday night

00:44between 10 p.m and 2 a.m they may be faint in some areas but sometimes even if they are not visible

00:50to the naked eye cameras may still be able to capture them the sun is currently in its solar

00:54maximum phase meaning we can expect more activity from our central star at the end of this period

00:59the sun's magnetic poles will flip and its 11-year cycle will begin again
