10 weeks, 3 original songs for each performance. Each night was judged independently & then the scores were added up at the end. The best part about it was the other performers who were there. I've really grown fond of them & was a bit taken aback & amazed by my friends & family who kept showing up to support me. We moved to Kew Gardens like 30 years ago because I was trying to find a small town/village vibe in Queens NY & in this group of people I really feel as though I finally found my little village. This is me performing 'She's Never on Time,' written for my wife Rimma; 'How She Danced (Danza Danza),' which is part folk song and part Italian cantata, inspired by a ballet dancer contemplating the end of her career; and 'Ribbons of Steel and Fire,' which is about manipulative leaders and the masses who blindly follow them. © Frederick Chipkin

00:00This is cool, she's never on time, it's a song I wrote for Rima, because she's never on time.
00:10It's a litany of complaints.
00:12I've got her for hours, which means I really love her.
00:30She's never on time, time keeps slowing and going, but the train wheels keep turning and they will be slowing down for her.
00:48My anticipation keeps growing and growing, but such a project you comes to view within.
00:55You are what a beautiful view, and I know that it's all that I want to see.
01:03Just thinking of you, and I'm knowing how my life should always be.
01:09She tells me, she tells of empires and poets and innocence lost, and I know that it's all that I want to hear.
01:19What a beautiful mind that she leaves me in places that I hope to be.
01:25How she opens her door and she shows me the things that I hope to see.
01:31The evening's old hush keeps on whispering softly as she bends the night air and time knows that it's slowing down.
01:49But her, her hand is so short as she's laying down, painting pictures of time as if time was frozen far away.
01:59As she journeys the dead soul and he lays down her head like it's calling.
02:05As the wife surrounds her, the match of her thoughts quickly falls away.
02:11She's never on time, time keeps slowing and going, but the train wheels keep turning and they will be slowing down.
02:28For her, my anticipation keeps growing and growing.
02:34Your foot steps approaching you come to view when there, you are.
02:40The dream.
02:45The dream, the big rise, the big rise, the big rise.
02:53The big rise, the big rise.
02:54The thing they're inside, that you try how you try.
