00:00I would say that China does not practice free trade.
00:04It is not, and it has never been, the standard bearer for free trade.
00:08For example, free trade would not permit the massive, massive theft of intellectual property
00:14in which China has been engaging for decades and is still engaging today.
00:20That's not part of free trade.
00:22The United States, as you should know, under President Trump,
00:27above all, wants to avoid war.
00:31He is currently engaged in an effort to bring the war in Ukraine to an end,
00:36to bring the war in Gaza to an end.
00:39A negotiation with Iran has just commenced.
00:44So the last thing President Trump wants is foreign wars.
00:48But what he is doing is, to begin with, protecting the American economy.
00:54And that's not a declaration of war.
00:57That is an effort which I think any government would undertake
01:01to protect its own people and its own economy from practices that, in his words,
01:08have robbed the American people and the American economy over the last few decades.
