Pam Bondi Asked If Fire At Gov. Josh Shapiro's Mansion Will Be Investigated As Domestic Terrorism

At a press briefing on Wednesday, AG Pam Bondi was asked about the alleged arson targeting Gov. Josh Shapiro.

00:07So Maine's governor yesterday said there were maybe at most two trans athletes in Maine's schools right now.

00:13I just was hoping you could talk a little bit about the sort of amount of federal resources that you're putting into this

00:18and why that's worth it given the small impact in Maine.

00:24Given that it has some of the same elements as the firebombings of Tesla dealerships that you charged federally and called domestic terrorism,

00:34I'm wondering if you would say the arson at Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro's house would also be domestic terrorism

00:39and something you would investigate federally, and if not, what constitutes domestic terrorism?

00:45Okay, so first the on-topic question about the – I haven't heard Janet Mills' comment.

00:52Governor Mills said it's only a couple trans athletes.

00:56Well, I think those are boys who identify as girls wanting to beat girls in girls' sports.

01:02Well, if one young woman is in jeopardy, one, that's enough for us to be standing up here.

01:08One, no boy will be undressing in a girls' locker room.

01:12No boy will be walking in a woman's restroom.

01:15And no boy, when we're finished with this, will be beating young girls in sports.

01:22These young women have – many of them have trained, what, since you were in elementary school for your sport?

01:27Riley, when did you start swimming?

01:29Four years old.

01:30They have trained their entire lives.

01:33Some of them have lost scholarships.

01:35They have lost regionals.

01:37They have lost state because of boys.

01:39I don't care if it's one.

01:40I don't care if it's two.

01:41I don't care if it's 100.

01:42It's going to stop, and it's going to stop in every single state.

02:07I firmly believe that they wanted to kill him.

02:10The defendant allegedly said he was going to use a hammer if he could have gotten to the governor.

02:17It is horrible.

02:18And, yes, we are working with state authorities to do – it's now a pending investigation – anything we can to help.
