Leeds’ Pascal Struijk out for the season, but Jayden Bogle continues to shine

00:00Leeds defender Pascal Stroik will miss the remainder of the season through injury,

00:04although Jadon Bogle has certainly kept his spot in the side.

00:08Of course, one of Leeds' stalwarts this season.

00:10In particular, I think the goal against Sunderland right at the end, that was huge.

00:15But unfortunately, he is out for the rest of the season,

00:17so as much as Leeds may go up in the next few games, he will play no part of it.

00:22Lee, no matter how you look at it, despite the celebrations we've just talked about there,

00:28it's a blow.

00:30Yeah, that is a definite blow.

00:33He's obviously a very, very important player for Leeds.

00:35Obviously, captain in Ethan Ampadu's absence when he's been injured.

00:39Just a good player, a good leader of the team, and just a very, very good defender.

00:43Not surprisingly, linked with other clubs and whatnot,

00:46and your best players will be linked to other clubs.

00:48But very much, hopefully, a big part of Leeds United's future.

00:51A good age, still at only 25.

00:54And yeah, it's just a shame that he's not going to be here for the hopefully final four games of the season running.

00:58I think that you can sort of just about cope with it at the moment, if that's the right word.

01:03Obviously, with Ethan Ampadu dropping back into centre-half alongside Joe Roden,

01:07those two seem to have a real good synergy together, not surprisingly, really,

01:11because of the Wales International's connection and whatnot.

01:13And I think those two alongside each other works just fine.

01:16Sometimes Ampadu even looks better.

01:18Sometimes it's a centre-half, and it depends really, like, you know, how he's playing.

01:21He is obviously naturally a centre-midfielder.

01:23There's no doubt he can play very well as a centre-back.

01:26But that said, you know, with him dropping back into there,

01:28that leaves one, you know, one midfielder down.

01:31When you're already another midfielder down with Joe Rothwell, currently out injured now.

01:35I'm hoping Rothwell's not a particularly serious one and that he's back,

01:38hopefully for Easter weekend or if not the last two games.

01:41But even so, if Ampadu's dropping back and then Rothwell's also injured,

01:44that's two centre-midfielders out.

01:46So, in both departments, basically, I don't know about quite down to the bare bones,

01:50but you are starting to look at it and think, you know, one more absentee,

01:53one more injury, something like that.

01:54And then you do have to start making, you know, quite dramatic changes.

01:57Obviously, you've got Gurudev and Tanaka at the moment in centre-midfield,

02:00seem to be doing very, very well together.

02:02Certainly look that way against Preston and whenever they are together in recent games.

02:06And obviously, Ampadu and Roden at centre-half.

02:08But thereafter, you know, you'd then be looking at Max Verbe,

02:11who's obviously a good player, but, you know, there'd be question marks

02:13and has a big run on the side.

02:15De Beo is a very good youngster, but, again, hardly any experience.

02:18Sam Byram has played centre-back, but he's more or less, he is a full-back, obviously.

02:22And then Joshua Ghiarvogi as well, somebody else who's come in and more bit parts.

02:26So, you know, it's a squad thing, really.

02:29And Pascal, you know, obviously has been first-choice centre-half alongside Joe Roden,

02:34which allowed Ampadu into midfield.

02:35But it's just the whole sort of knock-on effects of moving positions and stuff,

02:39especially when there are players out at the moment.

02:40So, yeah, a big, big blow.

02:42A big blow for him, a big blow for Leeds as a team and as a squad.

02:45But we've always said about Leeds' squad, always, you know,

02:48quite often in recent years, you've looked at Leeds' bench

02:51and thought it looks a bit light here and stuff.

02:52But when everybody's fully fit or nearly fully fit,

02:55you have looked at that bench and thought, you know,

02:57the squad's looking pretty good, really.

02:58And that's when, at times like this, you know,

03:00it should hopefully see them through.

03:01It's a shame for Pascal, a huge, huge part of the team, obviously.

03:05You know, let's assume and hope they see a lot of my promotion.

03:09He'd want to be out on the pitch there celebrating with them.

03:11But if they do get the job done, which we obviously hope and expect they will do,

03:14then there's no doubt about it that he's played a huge, huge part,

03:16as you say, about his goals.

03:18Both ends of the pitch, obviously, as a defender,

03:20and at the other end of the pitch, 12 of his goals and penalties and things like that.

03:23He's a very, very big, big player for Leeds,

03:25one who will be relishing the prospect, hopefully,

03:28of playing from the Premier League.

03:29So, we wish him a speedy recovery, 10 weeks, Daniel Farker said,

03:32so back for basically pre-season, but doesn't need surgery.

03:35So, that's a boost.

03:36At least he doesn't need surgery.

03:37So, yeah, hopefully he comes back better than ever.

03:40And that's what you want, of course, because, as I said at the start,

03:42he has been a stalwart for Leeds so far.

03:45Yeah.

03:45Certainly, someone who embodies what Leeds have been about this season,

03:49sort of that fighting spirit and not giving up.

03:52And, as I said, that will be a miss.

03:54But one player who, of course, is still involved and was on the score sheet on Saturday afternoon

03:59was Jadon Bogle against Preston North End.

04:03Now, he, of course, you know, we talked about him in the summer when he was first coming in

04:07and we sort of speculated as to how big his role in the team would be.

04:11But certainly, he's made that place at full-back his own, hasn't he?

04:13And capped that off with a great goal on Saturday

04:17and one that could look to at least send Leeds up.

04:22Yeah, well put, absolutely, yeah.

04:23Yeah, six goals for the season it is now, which for a right-back is pretty good, obviously.

04:27And I'm a big, big fan of Jadon Bogle.

04:28I think he's definitely a contender for one of Leeds' best players this season.

04:32He had a bit of a rocky start, a few question marks about him defensively and stuff.

04:36But you quite often get that with full-backs that are very good going forward.

04:40You know, it's pretty rare you're going to have, like, the absolute whole overall package.
