Birmingham City were beaten by Peterborough United in the Vertu Trophy Final at Wembley. We spoke to fans in Birmingham city centre to hear their thoughts on the result, what it means for the season overall, and what they want to see next.
Transcript
00:00Birmingham City came into this one with a swagger.
00:06League champions, clear favourites, beaten Peterborough twice already.
00:11But football doesn't always follow the script.
00:14Instead it was Peterborough who turned up, scored two screamers and silenced the favourites.
00:20Blues looked flat, lacked bite, rarely threatened and when chances came they weren't taken.
00:26But does a bad day at Wembley really take the shine of a season where promotion's already in the bag?
00:33I asked fans whether the result dents the joy of a longer-weighted title win.
00:39I don't think Birmingham should be in that division in the first place, that's my honest opinion.
00:44So if I were a Birmingham fan I'd be a bit muted about any celebrations being in effectively the third division.
00:52Because Birmingham ought to be at least in the championship.
00:56I don't think so, no. It's to win a good season for them, isn't it, in terms of where they are.
01:00Champions of League One coming back up with an open promise for the championship.
01:04So I think it would have been cherry on the cake, but I think on its own still a good season.
01:10Perhaps a little bit of gloss, but I would have thought that the most important thing is getting promotion out of division one back to the championship.
01:20And for a club of that heritage and that stature, I think that's where they need to be and pushing up towards apprenticeship.
01:27Let's be honest, this wasn't a smash and grab. This was a game where Peterborough wanted it more.
01:35Better movement, more urgency, more belief. Birmingham struggled to break lines, missed the few chances they created and looked unsure once they fell behind.
01:45And while two brilliant goals decided it, there will be fans asking, was that a one-off or does it show where the cracks are?
01:53The sort of cracks that the championship will exploit. I asked fans whether this performance raises any concerns for the step up ahead.
02:03I think they struggle whenever I do see them. I think the change of management is a failing.
02:12I mean, they say, I think it was Eustace, was it? They sacked to bring Rooney in and Rooney lasted six weeks or something like that.
02:20It's just the owners need to take advice from people who live and breathe football.
02:26I don't think they did in the past and maybe it's the same today.
02:30I think there was, they had a lot of possession. I think it didn't result in a lot of great shots.
02:34So I think they've just got to maybe work a little bit in that final third, especially it's going to be tougher in the championship.
02:39So I think that's definitely where they need to consider how they're going to improve, I say.
02:43I think attention now turns towards playing in the premiership and, you know, that is a bare pit of a division.
02:49There's an awful lot of games to be played there.
02:52They'll obviously want to reconfigure the team and concentrate on that, building the team for next season.
03:00So we have to take that option.

03:02If I run back, click the next button.

03:04This button is going to be on a button.
03:05So I want to pick up that button.
03:06Go ahead and play.
03:07Go ahead and play.
03:08Let's see how many of the pieces are.
03:09What do you think?
03:10Here's the question.
03:11Here's the question.
03:12To the next one.
03:13So I think we're going to take a look at the next point.
03:15I think we're going to try to get a look at the next Nast пользовacher.
03:16Here's the question.
03:18I think that's the biggest points.
03:19We've got to take a look at the next level of seeing population.
