‘I think it’s a real issue’: Londoners on gaming and violence

00:00I think it is a real issue, if I'm being honest with you.

00:02Like, I think the scope of gaming has changed quite a lot

00:06and the accessibility for young children and gaming has changed too.

00:10If the kids are allowed to stay on their consoles all day,

00:13that's going to cause them social anxiety later in life, I would imagine.

00:16But a day like today, they should all be outside,

00:19running around the playground, kicking the ball around, that sort of thing.

00:22And I think it's just mainly to do with the way children process information.

00:27Even when they see violence, it's like, oh, maybe this is something I can do.

00:30Maybe this is something I can try.

00:32And I do feel like it has an effect on a lot of young people.

00:36And I think in more recent years, we've just seen such an increase

00:39on knife crime and gun crime.

00:41And it's not only to... Gaming is not solely to blame,

00:45but I think it is a massive part of it.

00:48I'd be concerned if any of my nephews, nieces or anything like that

00:52spent the whole day like this sat on Minecraft.

00:54That would really concern me.
