How safe do you feel in Leeds?

What’s your sense of safety like in Leeds and is there anywhere you would never go after dark?

00:00I usually feel quite safe in Leeds because I live in a city centre, so it's very well-lit,

00:05but I definitely still have problems even in the city centre.

00:08So I just say anywhere that's not well-lit, I don't tend to go, especially if I'm by myself.

00:12Quite a few areas, I don't want to mention them all, but one in particular, Burley,

00:17I wouldn't want to watch the other night.

00:20There's loads of places I've never been to in Leeds, but most places I would go,

00:23I feel really safe, even after dark.

00:27I probably would just do all the normal things you would do in any city

00:30and just have your wits about you, really.

00:33I generally feel like everywhere's quite dangerous.

00:36Leeds is a dangerous place, I'd say, after dark.

00:38Anywhere is, really.

00:40But I feel like my advice would be to just stay safe when you're out alone,

00:43if it is dark, you know, and just to know the safety routes of where to go

00:48and who to call, I guess, if something wants to happen.

00:51There's some areas where you can freely walk about and know how it comes.

00:56Although a long time ago, I did get mugged and it was sick of snow.
