00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.

00:03The National Trust has issued an urgent plea following a fire which devastated

00:07two square kilometres of wildlife habitats on Howden Moor in the Peak District.

00:12Thanks to the joint efforts of Fire and Rescue Services from Derbyshire and South Yorkshire,

00:17as well as rangers, tenants and officers from the East and Moors Partnership,

00:21the fire was extinguished within hours.

00:23However, it was not before major damage was done to a large area of the moorland

00:27which will have an impact on the local wildlife.

00:30Whilst the cause of the most recent fire is not yet known,

00:33many blazes of this nature are caused by people, either accidentally or deliberately.

00:39The National Trust has now appealed to Peak District visitors and urged them

00:42not to light fires or barbecues under any circumstances to prevent further blazes.

00:48It comes as more dry and sunny weather is forecast for the week ahead,

00:51after one of the driest months of March in decades

00:54has left the moorland even more vulnerable to wildfires.

00:58TV viewers tuning in to a new thriller should watch closely for scenes from Derbyshire.

01:14Scenes for the TV series were shot near Havisidge in the summer of 2024

01:18when Stone Ridge Road, close to Blackamore, was shut for filming.

01:22Anne-Marie Duff, Eddie Martin and Rose Ayling Ellis

01:26are among the actors performing in the drama,

01:28which was written by deaf writer William Major and filmed in and around Sheffield.
