00:00It took an hour for volcano Canlaon to erupt this morning.

00:04Now, PHIVOX is reporting on the various scenarios

00:08in front of the eruption of volcano Canlaon.

00:11This is Rod Laguzad of PTV in Balitang Pambansa, live.

00:15Rod.

00:19The next day after the eruption of volcano Canlaon this morning,

00:22PHIVOX is following the possible scenarios after this.

00:30It took an hour for volcano Canlaon to erupt this morning,

00:33from 5.51 a.m. to 6.47 a.m.,

00:38which is 4 kilometers away from here.

00:42PHIVOX Director Teresito Bacolcol explained that

00:44this is not a major eruption, but an explosive eruption.

00:49It will lower nitric sulfur dioxide emissions

00:52and cause volcanic earthquakes.

00:55This one would signify that there is a pressure that has accumulated underneath,

01:00which is why our sulfur dioxide can't come out,

01:02and it suddenly falls.

01:04And as a result, the pressure can no longer be tolerated,

01:07which is why we had an eruption.

01:14Bacolcol added that it is dangerous if it is prevented,

01:17that an eruption may occur.

01:20He said that there is a possibility that it will follow,

01:22which is why the alert level 3 in the volcano is still high.

01:27Our possible scenario here would be...

01:30because it's like you opened a coke.

01:33If you opened the coke,

01:35the gas bubbles would freely go out.

01:38So that's the direction.

01:40So that's what we hope won't happen,

01:43that we will have an explosive eruption.

01:45If the magma rises quickly,

01:47then the conduit can't be prevented,

01:50that it will result in a strong eruption.

01:55This could cause pyroclastic density current,

01:59ashfall, and other hazards.

02:00And when this happens,

02:02it is possible to raise it to alert level 4.

02:05While there is a scenario where the magma rises slowly

02:08and will come out of the crater,

02:09just like what happened in Mayon Volcano.

02:12Also included in the scenario we are looking at,

02:14the movement of magma will stop.

02:16And here, it is possible to lower the alert level 2

02:19from the current alert level 3 of the volcano.

02:23Although the eruption of Canlaon Volcano is still high,

02:26a notice to airmen was issued

02:29for flights near the volcano.

02:33It started just a while ago at 8 in the morning

02:36and will last until 5 in the morning.

02:39Tomorrow, all flight operators are being told

02:41to avoid flying near Canlaon Volcano.
