Punjab police constable arrested with 17.71 grams of heroin meant for smuggling

Amandeep Kaur, a Punjab Police constable with a flashy lifestyle, was arrested after 17.71 grams of heroin meant for smuggling were found in her car.

00:29Investigations had revealed Kaur owned a Thar, a Rolex, an Audi, multiple Innova cars

00:35and a 2 crore bungalow.

00:46But her lifestyle wasn't the only thing raising suspicion.

00:49This local woman called Gurmeet Kaur accused her of having an affair with her husband using

00:54his ambulance to transport drugs.

01:02This is not an isolated case.

01:04On 1st April 2025, a Punjab cop was arrested for smuggling heroin to jail inmates.

01:10In February 2025, the Punjab police dismissed 52 personnel over allegations of corruption

01:15and malpractice, as per Punjab's DGP Gaurav Yadav statement.

01:20Kaur was arrested within 24 hours as part of Punjab's anti-drug campaign, the Yudh

01:24Nashe Virudh – War Against Drugs campaign under CM Bhagwant Mann.

01:29Heroin and opium are among the most consumed drugs in the state.

01:33Between 2022 and 2024, Punjab locked 33,000 drug cases, second only to Kerala, along with

01:39250-plus drug-related deaths.

01:42As of 4 April 2025, Kaur was under a three-day police remand and authorities have also arrested

01:47her alleged partner Balwinder Singh for his suspected involvement.

01:51Under the NDPS Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985, possessing any quantity

01:57between 5 to 250 grams falls under intermediate quantity, meaning Kaur could face a penalty

02:03of up to 10 years in prison and a Rs 1 lakh fine.
