00:07You believe the NFL is screwing America.

00:10Well, the NFL is screwing me, which is the most important thing. And by product, uh, by, by, um,

00:16by result, by whatever I'm trying to say, uh, the Washington commanders, uh, because here's the deal.

00:23Um, they're so infatuated, so in love correctly. So with Jaden Daniels

00:28and the commander story, right. Going from the outhouse to the penthouse,

00:33you know, and, and, and turning everything around at a big market and an important market for the

00:37NFL. They're going to put them in prime time six or seven times this year, including,

00:42I believe Thanksgiving day at Dallas for the fifth time in like a decade, uh, including Christmas day,

00:49where they just announced three Christmas day games. It wasn't bad enough to make them play

00:53Thanksgiving and Christmas. All they care about is ratings. That's all they care about.

01:02When you have a great product, you want it to be seen. Yes. And we in this town, including

01:08you, Mr. Russell. Yes. We've always asked about why don't we get respect nationally?

01:14So respect nationally mean you play prime time game. Correct. Now that they're doing what you

01:20and all of us asked for, you think that they're wronging the team in you?

01:26Well, I've always felt that they were wronging us by making us work on Thanksgiving. The whole

01:32world is wronging you. Yes. Okay. Listen, make no mistake about it. This is as much about me

01:39as it is about them and what's fair and foul. I don't want to work on Thanksgiving day. I don't

01:44want to work on Christmas day. I want to hang. I've wondered. Yeah. You don't like you drive

01:49to Philly. You drive to New York. You don't have to do that. Correct. I'm a professional. I work

01:54hard. I care about my job. I want to be a part of the mix, but I just don't want to be a part

01:58of the mix on Christmas day. I want to leave. You're going to watch the game at home on Christmas

02:03day regardless. I got a question for you. Who in the NFL made the great Chris Russell choose

02:12broadcast? Nobody. And so when you chose a sport that plays on damn near every day.

02:21Yes. Well, they used to not play on Christmas day until like three years ago.

02:26They played on it whenever it was a Sunday though. No, they would always move the schedule up.

02:32If Christmas day fell on a Sunday, they would move a whole entire schedule because they did this

02:37in 2017. They played in Chicago on Christmas day, but they still had Christmas day. They had

02:43a Christmas night game. That's what they had. But the thing I'm trying to say is which one of them

02:48made you choose this profession? Nobody made me choose. And a lot of people have said, well,

02:52you signed up for this and you chose this. You did. No, I didn't chose this 28 years ago when

02:57I decided to give a dumb ass in the broadcasting. I didn't think, ah, you know what, when you're

03:02turned 50 and you have a family and you have kids and you want to do other things other than

03:06football, football, football, that I was going to have to work every major holiday.

03:11Are they playing on the 4th of July now? Nope. Every major holiday. Easter.

03:16Every major holiday. You know what they did on Easter Sunday, my first year on the beat,

03:21they traded for Donovan McNabb. That sucked. Dude. So I think a number of things have to

03:26happen here. I think you need to compartmentalize legitimately. I'm saying this legitimately,

03:34all the damage the organization did to you for a long time. All those dudes are gone.
