00:00The 7.7 magnitude ground shaker that devastated and ravaged Myanmar and parts of Thailand
00:06and left a trail of death and destruction has put the Philippine government mulling
00:10a big what if of the country being the next on the verge of the big one.
00:15Such scare or psychological effect is putting the squeeze on concern agencies of government
00:20to work doubly harder on their preparations to assess and mitigate probable damage and
00:25keep a lower body count even more.
00:27Also efforts are afoot by the DPWH to refurbish or retrofit existing infrastructure that need
00:33reinforcement to withstand a magnitude of the likes of the big one.
00:38Furthermore, the Public Works and Highways Department is lending a hand to help the DOTR
00:42protect its existing railway lines with preventive maintenance measures.
00:47Further apart, the DOST, FIVOX, Office of Civil Defense and the MMDA are working closely
00:52to prep the public through repeated fire and earthquake drills, which will greatly help
00:56in saving lives and doing the right thing when the big one hits.
