Will Hibs star stay at club beyond this season amid future uncertainty?

00:08Again, we spoke about it before, maybe the athleticism of when he was

00:12playing at the sort of levels he was isn't quite there,

00:16but the technical ability in that is just all there.

00:20When you can get him in the right positions and in the right team,

00:24he is still a real joy to watch.

00:28Yeah, when a couple of us were chatting about it at the game,

00:32we would say, imagine how good he is at fives.

00:35He's bordering on the, don't invite that boy back,

00:39cos he's too good.

00:41I mean, his ability on the ball, his first touch,

00:44but the touch and the technique are still unbelievable.

00:48We've talked about this, he's not had a contract offer.

00:52He's had a contract, it was a one-year deal.

00:55If you ask me right now, I would offer him another year now,

00:59just because he's got that kind of ability that can break games,

01:05that can really destroy opponents,

01:09if you've got all the other parts in place as well.

01:12I don't think you're going to play him as a lone striker

01:15and ask him to do doggies between the centre-halves.

01:18He's got intentions of playing in the 2026 World Cup,

01:22but it's not like you're in a situation you're in with Dwight Gale

01:26where there's a decision to be made on whether or not he continues playing.

01:29He will be playing next season.

01:31If he's going to play the World Cup, he's going to need to play at a level.

01:34So you would imagine that, you know,

01:36Hibs should be, and especially if the club's in Europe next season

01:40in the league phases, you would imagine that that's a decent enough level

01:44to at least put him on the radar for going to the World Cup at home.

01:48It's interesting that Jesse Marsh, the Canada coach,

01:51flew over to see him and sit down with him

01:54and take the time to sit down and have a proper chat about the future.

01:58It's going to depend on a lot of things, isn't it?

02:00You say he needs to be playing at a good level,

02:02but it's probably one they can wait and make a decision in the summer

02:06and see, A, do you get European group stage football?

02:10Because that's going to make a massive difference on the squad you need.

02:14We've seen it every year, the teams that play in that.

02:17It's really tough.

02:19So there's going to be a lot of ups and downs, ifs and buts,

02:22hawks and pans in there in terms of what happens next.

02:28But I think they can just kind of, in the style of Junior himself,

02:32just put the foot on the ball and relax a little minute

02:35and see where Hibs end up.
