It is usually a quiet town of about 1,500, but lately people from far and wide are travelling
00:07
here to Cold Cairn, or now known as Cold Cairn, to visit the home of Eilish Retallick, a 17
00:17
year old who has made the grand finale of Australian Idol.
00:20
We've had a chat with people from the community who have been rallying behind her and cheering
00:24
her on.
00:27
We have had so many people come in from everywhere.
00:32
People have diverted, like coming from Melbourne to Sydney or Sydney to Melbourne, and have
00:37
actually diverted through Cold Cairn to come and see where Eilish lives, to buy sausages,
00:44
to come into the supermarket.
00:46
We have people come in and go, is this where Eilish works?
00:49
Yeah, so it's amazing.
00:51
She told me that she'd applied, she said, look, I'll probably get nowhere, but I'm just
00:56
interested to learn and find out how the process works.
01:00
So that's how she approached it, so I know that every time she's there and stays there,
01:07
it's just an absolute bonus for her.
01:10
It actually struck me the other night, no one's asking, have you heard of Eilish Retallick
01:14
anymore?
01:15
That name's well and truly out there now, and good on her, I'm so proud of her.
01:20
And at the moment Eilish is just giving us so much to celebrate, and the kids have been
01:25
fantastic, and staff.
01:27
We've got a couple of teachers that haven't missed a performance, they've been up there
01:31
every time doing the journey back and forward from Sydney, and that's how much we value
01:36
what Eilish is doing.
01:38
Several years ago we posted a video of Eilish singing a Taylor Swift song, and it got over
01:44
200,000 views.
01:45
It was just something that our school hasn't seen before, and at that time, that was almost
01:52
two years ago, and we knew then that she was going to be something special.
01:55
Oh, it's unreal, it's a credit to her and a credit to the community, as I said, she's
02:02
a great girl, the family's well known in the town, they're involved in a lot of stuff,
02:08
just a terrific community family, all their family, so everyone knows her and everyone's
02:15
got behind it, and it's been terrific.
02:18
Go Eilish!
