00:00A man was arrested in Paco, Manila because of the illegal sale of a textblast machine.

00:17This man was just arrested after the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group arrested him

00:23in a restaurant in Paco, Manila because of the illegal sale of a textblast machine.

00:29According to the PNP-ACG spokesperson, Police Lieutenant Walen May Arancilio,

00:33the suspect was arrested illegally after the authorities' cyber-patrolling.

00:39After the authorities confirmed that the suspect, alias Popoy, was selling the machine,

00:45the entrapment operation was immediately halted.

00:47In the initial investigation, the suspect bought the textblasting machine

00:52from a security guard for P5,000.

00:57For P10,000, our cyber-cops were engaged in this.

01:02With the help of the NTC, we learned that this is a confirmed textblast machine

01:09that cyber-criminals can use in their illegal online activities, like a text-scam.

01:17The suspect has been buying this for a long time, but because he didn't know how to use it,

01:22he decided to sell it first.

01:24When he needed money, he thought of selling it online.

01:29He's currently in the custodial facility of the PNP-Anti-Cybercrime Group.

01:35According to him, he hoped that he would use the money for his birthday.

01:40Unfortunately, he ended up in our office.

01:46The suspect did not give a statement.

01:49We arrested him using a device with eight ports.

01:53Even though it's just one device with eight ports,

01:57it can be used with SIM cards, since it has SIM card slots.

02:03Each SIM card can send up to 1,000 messages.

02:09The IMSI Catcher is an electronic device that can track and intercept mobile phone communications.

02:17It's usually called a fake cell tower or a rogue cell tower.

02:21It can imitate a cell tower and can connect mobile phones to the IMSI Catcher.

02:28According to the indication that there is an IMSI Catcher in the area,

02:32the signal will be weakened, like a signal drop from LTE or 5G to 2G.

02:39This is where the text message will enter.
