President Trump expressed on Monday his desire for President Putin to reach an agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine.

Speaking to reporters inside the Oval Office, Trump said he doesn't want to have to move forward with secondary tariffs that he's previously threatened to impose on buyers of Russian oil, if it can be avoided.

00:00No, I want to see him make a deal so that we stop Russian soldiers and Ukrainian soldiers
00:06and other people from being killed.
00:09But mostly it's Russian and Ukrainian soldiers.
00:12They're losing at least 2,500 human beings, beautiful human beings, a week.
00:19And I want it to stop.
00:20And some people would say, why do you worry about Russian soldiers or Ukrainian soldiers?
00:25I worry because it's like they're just like you people.
00:28They're like us.
00:29They're like all of us.
00:30And I seem to have an ability to do those things.
00:33And if I can do that, I think it's a very worthwhile thing to do.
00:39And I think we will.
00:40No, I want to make sure that he follows through, and I think he will.
00:44I don't want to go secondary tariffs on his oil, but I think it's something I would do
00:49if I thought he wasn't doing the job.
