Hello, my name is Luke Patrick, I am a reporter for the Lancashire Post and the Blackpool Gazette.
00:04
Here is the Daily Bulletin.
00:07
Former Blackpool doctor avoids being struck off by panel over one-off rape.
00:13
A doctor who formerly worked at Blackpool Victoria Hospital has avoided being struck
00:17
off despite a tribunal panel finding he raped a young woman in his home.
00:24
Dr Aloi Foyamo, who was at the time a consultant at the hospital,
00:28
had his medical licence suspended for 12 months for the attack on the woman,
00:33
instead of being struck off. Although Dr Foyamo denies raping the woman, the Medical Tribunal
00:40
Practitioner Service concluded on the balance of probabilities that the attack had taken place.
00:48
Although police investigated the incident, they did not charge Dr Foyamo.
00:53
A Leyland man who threatened to murder his ex-partner and her new boyfriend has been
01:06
spared jail by a judge in Preston. When Swale's victim was left terrified, believing he would
01:13
carry out his warning using a crossbow he owned, the city's Crown Court was told.
01:19
But after hearing the 40-year-old had begun to work with mental health professionals to address
01:24
long-standing issues, Preston Recorder Judge Robert Althman decided to give him a chance
01:29
with a community order instead of immediate prison. He also issued a restraining order
01:35
banning him from making any contact with his ex for five years.
01:43
The court was told the woman reported Swale's to the police after receiving threatening messages
01:48
following the break-up of their volatile relationship. In one he warned she and her
01:54
new partner were dead and then he then told her I'm going to murder you, I'm going to murder you all.
02:03
I feel so sorry for the people's reaction and update as Lancashire Private School closes down.
02:11
Readers have reacted strongly to news that a Lancashire
02:14
Private School has closed its doors with only two days' notice.
02:19
Jonathan Harrison, headteacher and proprietor of Moreland School in Clitheroe, shocked parents
02:24
by sending out an email on Wednesday evening saying that the senior school would close on Friday.
02:30
Speaking with the Post he said he was heartbroken and put the decision down to a combination of
02:36
being owed £200,000 in fees, a falling number of fault-fee paying parents, higher operating costs
02:42
and Labour Government's decision to introduce VAT on school fees and increase the amount
02:49
of employers' national insurance. Mr Harrison has since retired as headteacher.
02:56
Around 75 pupils have been affected and 12 members of staff have lost their jobs.
03:03
The nursery and junior schools are unaffected.
03:05
Police appeal after a man dies following an accident in Olmskirk, Lancashire. A man has
03:10
died following a serious collision at Olmskirk this afternoon. The police are appealing for
03:16
information and footage. Police were called shortly after 1pm to report that a Ford Focus
03:21
Zetec had left the carriageway on the Newcutt Lane in Holesaw, Olmskirk. Sadly, despite the
03:28
best efforts of the emergency services, the driver, a 71-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the
03:34
scene. His family are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.
03:42
Enquiries are ongoing into the collision but it is thought that no other vehicles
03:46
were thought to be involved. G.S. Joseph Gee of Serious Collision Investigation Unit said
03:53
a man has very sadly died following this collision and first and foremost my thoughts
03:57
are with his loved ones at this incredibly distressing time.
