The Convent of Santa Rosa de Ocopa is 30 kilometers from the centre of Huancayo, about 40 minutes drive.
Built almost 250 years ago, the mission was established to evangelize to the people in the Amazon region of Peru.
The library holds more than 25 thousand books dating back to the 15th century.
One of the oldest works in the collection was written in 1480, but its too fragile for general public to look at it.
The convent also houses a natural museum, showing a collection of butterflies, monkeys, snakes,
a spectacled bear, and a black crocodile measuring three meters long.
All this was built with the help of the local community, and is an easy short trip from Huancayo.
