00:28So, we're paying 100% more than what they are in Germany, I mean more than 100%.

00:47So when we ship 100 baskets to Germany, it's $12,900 in tariffs for pickling baskets.

00:53When they ship 100 baskets to us, it's $125, right?

00:58So that is over 100% tariff, right?

01:02That is wildly unfair to all the workers here.

01:17I think all administrations over the last 20-something years have dropped the ball.

01:24They're not thinking about the poor worker here and the opportunities that could be created

01:29if we had a level playing field.

01:30So it's not just the Biden administration, it's all the prior administrations over the

01:34last 20-something years.

01:36They tolerated this.

01:37And it's crazy that China's in the World Trade Organization.

01:40How can they possibly be?

01:42They debase their currency, they dump effluent into the Yangtze River, they have subsidies

01:51on exports, they have subsidies on steel, they have subsidies on labor.

01:55It's not fair.

01:56We have to have a level playing field.

02:15I think it's a fair world.

02:17Why are we subsidizing Germany?

02:19We did that in the Bretton Woods and right after World War II to bring their shambles

02:24of an economy up.

02:26We did them as a solid to England, as a solid to France.

02:29We did this as a generous country.

02:31That made sense right after World War II.

02:34We're way beyond that now.

02:36It doesn't make sense now.

03:06Well, certainly, we're very concerned about the tariffs, you know, increased costs that

03:35are already going to be tapping into already tight margins, and certainly the impact on

03:41our customers.

03:42You know, who's going to pay $75 for what was a $25 bottle of wine?

03:48European wines make up about two-thirds of our wine selections here at Decanter.

03:53And our customers tend to select or come into the store for European wine styles.

04:14Wine tariffs marked at 200% is going to significantly affect independent wine retailers.

04:22All businesses, really, throughout the chain, the supply chain of wine, we're talking about

04:28potential store closures, layoffs, loss of taxes for our local communities, and increasing

04:38tax deficits for our states and local governments.

04:43The potential impact of this can be catastrophic.

04:54These kinds of proposals really threaten our livelihood and our ability to plan for growth

05:02and expansion, which benefits the American economy and our communities.
