00:06Liverpool's truly embraced the spirit of Mothering Sunday. If you were planning a special day,
00:11it's always a good idea to make reservations early as places do get very busy. What could
00:17be more quintessentially British than an afternoon tea to treat mum? The Botanic Tea Room in the
00:22Municipal Hotel on Dale Street offers guests a mixture of sweet and savoury specialities,
00:27including a selection of fresh homemade pastries, cakes, scones and sandwiches,
00:32which changes to reflect the seasons. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available too.
00:37Of course, there are plenty of other places in the city that serve it up too.
00:41Now, if your mum enjoys art or history, a visit to a National Museum's Liverpool venue could
00:46tick all the right boxes. The Walker Art Gallery is home to an impressive collection of art spanning
00:51over six centuries, from classical sculptures to masterpieces by some of the world's most renowned
00:57artists. At the Museum of Liverpool, you can learn about our city's story whilst making
01:02memories of your own. Sefton Park is a beloved green space that offers a peaceful escape from
01:09the bustle of city life. If the weather's nice on Mothering Sunday, then why not take a lushly
01:14stroll through the lush green space, revel in the beautiful daffodils and even enjoy a family
01:20picnic. There really is something special about celebrating in this stunning park.
01:25Just a short walk away, Lark Lane is a vibrant and eclectic street known
01:30for its independent vibe. It's not just the food that draws people here though.
01:34The lane is also home to a variety of independent shops selling everything from vintage clothing
01:40to handmade jewellery. The street has become a hub for creatives and entrepreneurs looking
01:45to offer something special. Flowers are often a pretty safe option when looking for the perfect
01:51gift for mum, but if you are after something longer lasting, the city has some great independent
01:57shops which offer up some unique gifts. The Nest is a treasure trove of locally designed goods
02:03and art in one of Liverpool's most iconic spots. It opened its doors at the Royal Albert Dock in
02:082018 and has become a showcase for locally designed goods and art. An artist herself,
02:13owner Catherine, works with more than 30 designers, photographers and makers. In addition,
02:19she often collaborates with others on unique items. Utility house two shops on Bold Street
02:25and Liverpool One respectively and it's a modern design store which stocks a range of gifts to suit
02:31all budgets and tastes. There's everything here from the weird and wonderful to the beautiful
02:36and functional, all made with the pure pleasure of gift giving in mind. It seems like across the city
02:44Liverpool does what it does best, coming together to celebrate the people who matter the most and
02:49for those who can't be with their mothers on this special day. Hopefully there's plenty
02:54ways to keep that connection strong whether through video calls or sending a thoughtful gift.
