Dozens reportedly trapped in Bangkok skyscraper collapse after major quake
Dozens are reportedly trapped under the rubble of a Bangkok skyscraper that collapsed following a strong earthquake that struck central Myanmar on March 28, 2025. The building in Bangkok's Chatuchak district was reduced to rubble after tremors were felt in the Thai capital, with buildings in the central business area swaying, according to Reuters witnesses. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake was of 7.7 magnitude and at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). It was followed by a powerful aftershock. The epicenter was about 17.2 km (10.7 miles) from the city of Mandalay, Myanmar's second-largest, which has a population of about 1.5 million. There was no immediate word from Myanmar on the extent of the damage.
