The Malaysian Road Traffic Authority has held a special holiday, Eid al-Fitr, in 2025
00:13
across the country, starting on the 24th of March and ending on the 8th of April 2025,
00:21
to ensure the safety of the roads, especially during the holiday season, through the strategy
00:27
of the authorities as an effort to reduce road accidents.
00:31
In addition to that, we are also conducting advocacy campaigns for road safety campaigns
00:37
with the cooperation of other agencies.
00:40
And today, we are cooperating with the Institute of Integrity of Malaysia to conduct advocacy
00:46
campaigns for road safety.
00:49
For information, based on the Ops that we have run, the operation that we started on
00:57
the 24th of March, for only five days, this operation was completed, the JPJ has issued
01:05
a total of 22,552 notices on various violations on vehicles and drivers who failed to comply
01:14
with the regulations set at the bottom of the Road Traffic Act 1987 and the following
01:20
rules.
01:21
The statistics are the results of the inspection of 77,736 vehicles that we have inspected
01:32
during the five days of the operation and from that number, 97 vehicles have also been
01:39
inspected.
01:41
Based on the Ops, the JPJ has inspected vehicles that failed to comply with the rules
01:49
set as follows.
01:51
Motorcycles have 6,822 vehicles, lorries have 6,626 vehicles, motorcars for cars 5,918,
02:03
public transport vehicles 1,543, other vehicles 1,388 and foreign vehicles have 255.
02:13
According to the JPJ P22 notice issued by the JPJ, there are vehicles and drivers who
02:21
still fail to comply with the rules set based on the main violations as follows.
02:29
We have seen 7 main violations during this operation.
02:35
The first is a violation related to the LKM vehicle license that expired or did not have
02:41
insurance protection for 5,850, a violation related to the driver's license, there is
02:47
no driving license and the driving license expired for 4,148, technical errors such as
02:56
motorcycle brake, car tire and so on, that is 3,035, other errors 2,346, a violation
03:06
related to the 2011 goods vehicle, a violation related to the public transport vehicle 1,800.
03:14
Throughout the operation, the Ops was also carried out through an inspection on the
03:20
public transport vehicle, that is the bus.
03:22
The JPJ has inspected as many as 1,800 buses have committed various violations involving
03:29
vehicles and drivers, including using cell phones while driving.
03:35
There is no second driver and other errors.
03:39
And for this year too, the JPJ continues the strategy of enforcing the prohibition of
03:45
JPJ members in the bus, where we place our members as bus passengers in the bus and
03:55
we detect drivers making mistakes when driving the bus for the duration of the Ops
04:05
this Eid.
04:06
And we detect as many as 398 public transport vehicles, namely this bus, which has committed
04:15
a violation.
04:16
So the JPJ wants to remind the owners and drivers of goods vehicles, throughout the
04:23
celebration of Eid al-Fitr this year, the prohibition of driving on goods vehicles, road
04:29
vans, will begin to be enforced for four days, namely on 29 and 30 March.
04:36
Tomorrow, 29 and then 30 March before Eid, as well as on 5 and 6 April 2025 after Eid.
04:49
In conjunction with Eid al-Fitr this year, the JPJ wants to advise road users to always
04:56
follow the rules of the road and users need to ensure that their vehicles have been properly
05:03
maintained and safe, as well as plan the journey to the destination.
