In memory of Stan Lee

Comic book legend and Marvel co-creator Stan Lee passed away today at 95 years old.

00:00We've been together for so many generations, I don't want that to stop.

00:06I don't consider you as fans, I consider you as close, close friends.

00:30The publisher walked in and saw me there and he said, hey kid, who are you?

00:45I said, I work here. He said, well, do you think you can hold down the editor's job until I find somebody else?

00:50I said, well, I'll try. And he never found anybody else.

01:00I was thrilled because as a reader, I loved that character.

01:09Captain America was a product of World War II.

01:12We were fighting the Nazis. It was a life and death struggle.

01:16Somehow we needed a hero, somebody to represent the fight of liberty versus tyranny.

01:23I think you never outgrow your love of these stories of giants and ogres and witches and all of that.

01:37Superhero comics give you that.

01:50I was sitting and I saw a fly crawling on the wall.

01:52And I said, wow, suppose a person had the power to stick to a wall like an insect.

01:57So I was off and running and I thought, what do I call him?

02:01I tried Mosquito Man. That didn't have any glamour.

02:04Insect Man, that was even worse.

02:06And I got to Spider-Man.

02:09It sounded mysterious and dramatic and, lo, a legend was born.

02:37To me, it is such fun creating characters, writing stories.

02:42I think if you do what really excites you, it just keeps you going as long as possible.
