Woman truck driver shares what it's like on social media

"We got kids. We can be a girly girl. We can still be a woman and be a truck driver."   This woman truck driver has become a social media sensation. She's using the internet to bust stereotypes about the profession.

00:00So they say why don't more women drive trucks and they so tired of seeing the

00:0455-year-old co-worker and his third divorce saying oh this is a man's world.

00:10Look ladies the only reason a lot of y'all not in this industry because you

00:14just don't know how fun it is.

00:23It's so important for me to share my experience on social media because it's

00:28sharing the outlook of what's behind it what's behind the scenes of a truck

00:32driver and it's making a believer is so many women that really feel like they

00:36can't get in the truck it because they are a female so I'm giving that

00:39opportunity to be like look if I could do it you could do it we got kids we we

00:43can be a girly girl we can be a still be a woman and be a truck driver.

00:58If anybody ever try to say truck drivers are nasty let them know baby you just

01:12haven't seen the right truck yet. I mean let them know we keep food on deck in

01:17an outspoken type of truck everything wiped down, bleach, wipes, refrigerator on

01:24stack. Yes let them know flat-screen TVs made up babe. What I enjoy most about

01:33being a truck driver is the love of the road. Experiencing different people

01:37traveling in different areas and taking my energy and placing it all around the

01:41East Coast and just the scenery of learning new things and it's so

01:47powerful being able to drive like a train on the road to the point where it's

01:52unbelievable that I can do it and still be cute and classy. I got into it because I

02:03really felt like it was great income I went to school for four years for my

02:07bachelor's and it really wasn't no money in my degree I was gonna have to have a

02:12lot of experience just to get the money I was looking for so I decided just to

02:17get in trucking and make a better living for my family.

02:33I really think more women should consider a career in truck driving. I

02:37mean what's the problem? I mean we are here to show it's a job. We are here to

02:42show the world we could do anything and it's just another day. You just gotta

02:47learn how to drive.

02:52Being a female driver sometimes I can be very unsafe because some people don't

02:58understand that just because we are truckers that don't mean we're still not

03:04women so some of the areas be bad as far as the bathroom set up showering and

03:09parking and we can't just park anywhere. As many precautions I take just to make

03:14sure I make it home. I always make sure I park where it's well-lit. There's a lot

03:19of other trucks there. I never really be in the area by myself. I put my seatbelt

03:23through the door and I hook it right here on the hook just to make sure

03:28somebody try to break in. They can't get in. Another thing is I don't go in the

03:32truck stops too much. I got a port-a-potty so I won't have to get up

03:37and leave in the middle of the night. I don't do a lot of interaction on the

03:41road.

03:49The main thing I want people to take from watching my videos is always

03:54remember to follow your dreams. You don't got to be like the stereotype and

03:57everybody else. Make your own destiny. You are control of it and be positive

04:01while doing it. Every day is not going to be the same. Every day not gonna be a

04:05good day but when somebody tell you no you prove them wrong and you make it a

04:09yes. If you really want to do it you put your mind to it. Accomplish it. Set goals

04:13for yourself to make sure that you can prosper and grow in whatever

04:18field you decide you want to follow.
