Throwback to the Harry Potter cast’s first ever press conference

Twenty years ago, here’s how the very young cast of Harry Potter spoke at their first ever press conference …

00:52I don't really like school that much, but science probably, because I'm good at it.

00:59I don't want to change.

01:06Well, so far it's sort of turned things upside down.

01:14I don't know, I've never had anything happen to me like this before.

01:22I've never done anything.

01:25And it's just going to be so amazing to see how things are done.

01:31But... I don't know what to say.

01:35A long time ago, I read the first two books.

01:42And I have, since then, completely forgotten everything about them.

01:47I have read the least of Harry Potter in my class.

01:50I managed to get the part somehow.

01:53I cried and I was just really excited, basically.

02:01Be cool.

02:03I was really scared, because it's my first ever film audition it was.

02:08So I was very nervous.

02:10But not as nervous as I've been before this press conference.

02:14When I saw these three kids on screen, I realised that they were all movie stars.

02:18And that they were amazing actors.

02:20And we needed to see them together, that was the other thing.

02:22We had different potential candidates for Harry, Hermione and Ron.

02:28And we wanted to see them all together.

02:39I'm afraid I'm really going to bore all of you.

02:42But I'm afraid I'm going to stick it in a bank until I'm 21.

02:47That's my girl.

02:50Daniel, are you going to be a saver?

02:54Probably.

02:59I... No, I don't have any idea.

03:05Speaking as a wizard, we're going to get paid muggle money.

03:10And I don't really understand it.

03:14I learned a big lesson on the first two Home Alone films.

03:17And subsequently in dealing with children in films.

03:20And I was concerned when I got this job.

03:24That when we dealt with the children, we would eventually get these roles.

03:29I would also make absolutely certain that the parents were wonderful parents as well.

03:35Because I felt a need to protect these kids against the onslaught of publicity.

03:41Against what eventually can go wrong if you star in a film of this magnitude.
