00:24anything that dehumanizes people is insanely problematic, right?

00:29So putting on mustaches and sombreros

00:32and speaking quote-unquote Mexican,

00:34it perpetuates harm.

00:44They were all canceled because of a little thing called

00:47cultural appropriation.

00:53I would say Cinco de Mayo has become

00:57this opportunity for alcohol corporations and bars

01:04to sell a bunch of booze to folks,

01:06sell tequila,

01:07and to just slap the word Mexico in front of it.

01:10It's a pinche desmadre!

01:46I would say the majority of folks have no clue about

01:48the Batalla de Puebla or anything whatsoever.

01:51I would think they might think it's Mexican Independence Day,

01:54but yeah, to Mexicans I would say

01:58It's an excuse for folks to get really, really drunk.

02:17I didn't really notice it at all growing up in L.A.

02:20I think the first time I ever really noticed it

02:22was when I went to college at UC Santa Barbara

02:25and folks were talking about Cinco de Drinco,

02:28Cinco de Drinco.

02:30I would see white kids with sombreros and Mexican mustaches

02:34and I just did not understand what the hell was going on.

02:38And the more folks that I met from Mexico,

02:41the more ridiculous I thought Cinco de Mayo was.

02:44If you want to get drunk and drink tequila,

02:46that's awesome, go do it.
