9/11 commemoration

President Trump held his first 9/11 commemoration. Throwback to his interview from 2001, hours after he witnessed the attack.

00:00We're gathered here today to remember a morning that started very much like this one.

00:16I have a window that looks directly at the World Trade Center and I saw this huge explosion.

00:23Then our whole world changed.

00:27You want to just say, the hell with it, you're going forward, nothing's going to change.

00:32But the fact is something has changed.

00:34It was the worst attack on our country since Pearl Harbor.

00:39This was probably worse than Pearl Harbor.

00:42The horror and anguish of that dark day were seared into our national memory forever.

00:48I guess the big thing that you really will have to do is never forget.

00:51You just can't forget that something like this happened.

00:54I was so disappointed when they closed the stock exchange, but of course at some point

00:58you had no choice.

00:59On that day, not only did the world change, but we all changed.

01:05Donald, you have one of the landmark buildings down in the financial district, 40 Wall Street.

01:1040 Wall Street actually was the second tallest building in downtown Manhattan.

01:15And it was actually before the World Trade Center was the tallest.

01:18And then when they built the World Trade Center, it became known as the second tallest and

01:21now it's the tallest.
