She used to have a little, now she has a lot ... And she's set to perform at the inauguration of Joe Biden.   This is the story of Jennifer Lopez.

00:00Who would have thought a girl from the Bronx, you know,

00:03with no connections in the biz or anything like that,

00:07could come so far.

00:08It's not just I work hard, it's that I put in harder work than everybody else.

00:34I work harder and harder and harder and harder.

00:36And when everybody's sleeping, I'm doing more.

00:39I said, and that's what it takes to have that kind of success.

00:42It's just a relentless pursuit of creativity.

00:58It was at the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club in my old neighborhood up in the Bronx,

01:03where I was introduced to the performing arts.

01:05It's where I first sang, first danced, and performed for an audience.

01:21Coming all the way from Bronx, New York, Miss Jennifer Lopez.

01:34But as far as for Latino actors in Hollywood, it's not that great,

01:55because we're not considered for roles that are not Latino.

02:00But meanwhile, other people are considered to play our roles

02:04who are not Latino.

02:05So it's a weird thing.

02:34I started making records in the 90s, in the era of the waif and the supermodel.

02:38And slowly, as curves began to be in brief,

02:41the girl who wanted to combine street style with couture began to blossom.

03:04I've always seen my style as kind of like sexy, but also very feminine and very modern.

03:14I kind of go with whatever I feel at the moment.

03:17I'm not one to really follow trends,

03:20but I kind of was just influenced from who I was from the time I was very young

03:24and living in the Bronx.

03:25So I just keep with that.

03:28I just try to express who I am and myself.

03:34So

03:57ugly, vicious was written about her in ways that

04:00if you wrote it now, you will literally be fired.

04:31It is my greatest hope that our efforts with Amnesty International

04:40will encourage other people throughout the world to act,

04:43ensuring that finally that justice will be served.

04:56I've never been one to be quiet about the fact that I'm Latina.

05:00I think it's important.

05:02I never put the kind of responsibility on my shoulders of role model or anything,

05:06but I do feel I have a responsibility.

05:08I have a responsibility to represent myself, my family, my culture in the best way that I can.

05:30And

05:40today, this landmark moment inspires me to work harder and dream bigger

05:46for all that is the future.

05:48I'm really grateful for her friendship,

05:50her generosity, which is huge for showing the world the beauty of booty

05:56and making it easier for a whole lot of girls to love theirs, including me.

06:04Jennifer, thanks for having me be here.

06:27A director at a fitting asked me to take my top off.

06:32No, I'm not supposed to get naked before I get on camera.

06:36Now I feel like women, we're realizing we have all this worth and value

06:40and that we shouldn't be so quiet and on the sidelines.

06:56I immediately felt like I had to get this film made, no matter the obstacle.

07:04A survivor just trying to get her piece of the American dream.

07:08Ramona, like so many of us, was a mass of contradictions,

07:13mentor and manipulator, mother, fighter, entrepreneur and hustler.

07:26In this Super Bowl, I mean, the two teams that are playing, right,

07:33the Chiefs and the 49ers are run by women.

07:36And then you got two women headlining the halftime show.

07:40So it's just that statement alone for me is empowering.

07:44When I think of my daughter,

07:46when I think of all the little girls of the world to be able to have that, to see that

07:51two Latinas doing this at this time in this country at this time,

07:55it's just very empowering for us.

08:13For me, it's unifying the nation again.

08:16You know, getting rid of this hate,

08:18thinking about my kids walking around in a world where,

08:22you know, it's OK to be racist or prejudiced because our administration says it's OK.

08:30You know, that to me is really sad because it's not the country I believe that I grew up in.
