00:00For the people who are online, whoops, the web is not the web we wanted in every respect.
00:08The engineers who are designing the protocols ought to be thinking about social, political
00:14questions about basically a constitution for the web.
00:26And then on the heels of that were people who were more serious about it and wanted
00:29security, they worried about confidentiality, worried about the integrity of messages, spoofing.
00:36To work really, really hard to keep it open and free like we always have, keep it, fight
00:41for neutrality, but also think about other aspects, privacy, think about owning control
00:48of your own data.
00:49What about hate sites with nasty political, but people, nasty people exercising their
00:56right to free speech.
00:58One part of the worry is that because, is that the legislative system tries to take
01:05hold of this and just hit it and start basically gnawing away at people's constitutional rights.
01:12Whenever somebody's asked me about what the biggest, my biggest fear is, I think I've
01:16always said that some company or government or combination should end up controlling the
01:21web.
01:32The internet runs over a network known as the internet, which was designed to be bomb-proof.
01:36It was designed to be decentralized.
01:38And the great thing about that is it will run pretty, once it's set up, it runs pretty
01:42much without the possibility of intervention on a grand scale.
01:46If we spend a whole certain amount of time using the internet, we have to spend a little
01:50part of it, a little proportion of that time defending it, worrying about it, looking out
01:54for it.
01:55Do me a favor, will you guys, fight for it for me.
