Obama calls U.S. pandemic response "chaotic"

In a leaked phone call to former staffers, Barack Obama describes the U.S. response to the coronavirus crisis as an "absolute chaotic disaster."

00:07what we're going to be battling is not just a particular individual or a political party

00:16but what we're fighting against is these long-term trends in which

00:20being selfish, being tribal, being divided and seeing others as an enemy

00:34that that has become a stronger impulse in American life and by the way you know we're

00:42saying that internationally as well and it's part of the reason why the response to this

00:51global crisis has been so anemic and spotty and it would have been bad even with the best

01:00of governments it has been an absolute chaotic disaster when that mindset of what's in it for me

01:15and to heck with everybody else when that mindset is operationalized in our government so

01:24that's why I, by the way, am going to be spending

01:30as much time as necessary and campaigning as hard as I can for Joe Biden
