WNBA Players Sound Off on Inequality

Online trolls went wild when it was announced that the WNBA will be featured in the popular NBA 2K video game franchise. For players and coaches, this dismissal of the women's game is growing tiresome.

00:00Sometimes it's frustrating the level of disrespect there is towards our league.

00:07It makes me feel like, I mean, we're just not, we're undervalued.

00:11It's just now really getting exposed and it really isn't even fully exposed.

00:31Media outlets don't normalize women's basketball on them.

00:35It's 50 men's posts for every one women's post.

00:38And, you know, if people were to continuously put us on there as much as they put men's,

00:43then it would become normal and people wouldn't feel the need to go out of their way to hate it.

00:47But people put less and less of it because of the amount of hate without realizing that's not helping the problem.

00:52There's sports, I mean like bowling, or they're playing games that, like college games,

00:59that you already know the score, you already know what happened.

01:02While a WNBA game is going on, when they're disrespecting the WNBA, they're disrespecting me as a person too.

01:22Some players getting injured, you know, having to play year-round with no break in between, that plays a part.

01:40The reason we do that is so we can get a little bit of the money that we're not getting in the country.

01:45The money could be better for the players in the WNBA. It just, I can't say it, I mean it just sucks.

02:07Some of the greatest athletes of all time, not just greatest athletic women of all time.

02:12Talk about what our U.S. National Soccer Team just accomplished.

02:16We just want them to be appreciated as such, just like in the WNBA.

02:20I want my son to know who Sheryl Swoopes is as much as he knows who Michael Jordan is.

02:25For me that's important, and I think that needs to be important to all society.

02:29I think we need to continue to push it and continue to kind of fight for the future of this league

02:36and making sure that people continue to support it because when it comes down to it,

02:41we have a lot of supporters and there are a lot of people that would be interested in women's basketball,

02:44but it's not covered enough.
