00:00Pavarotti is a fantastic genius, an icon.

00:30My father was a tenor.

00:31You always do what your father is doing, so I'm a little tenor.

00:35My mother says, my son sing with a beautiful voice.

00:39I say, mama, you say that because you are my mother.

00:42No, because I don't say that when I hear your father.

00:51He was a nervous wreck before every performance.

00:53He would always say, we go tonight.

00:55People think of him and they can imagine him hitting those high Cs.

01:00They can imagine that amazing silhouette and maybe even that beaming smile of his and that charisma.

01:07But there's a life story that is, in fact, very emotional, funny, surprising,

01:16and it's also an opportunity to really understand his work.

01:30He had lived through World War II as a child, and he just understood the terror and the heartbreak

01:53of being a child living through war.

01:57He dedicated himself to trying to improve their lives as best he could.

02:18He didn't think it was for elites only, only for the educated sophisticates.

02:26He really thought it was an art form that could and should be appreciated by everyone.

02:31I was born with this gift, enormous gift, and certainly one day it's going to finish.
