Following worldwide outrage, all the animals held captive in these small pens have been set free. Finally, the notorious "whale jail" in Russia's far east has been closed.

01:23The belugas were released very far away from where they were captured, and they were tiny
01:36babies when they were captured, so they may not find their families again.
01:40But at least they have not been sold to the captivity industry in China.
01:45They won't end up in a concrete tank in China or in any other dolphin area.
01:52And this is such a good thing!
02:22We're all learning more and more about how cetaceans are sentient beings like us.
02:39They have feelings, they communicate, they interact with their families, and they stay
02:45with their families for life, in many cases far more successfully than we as humans have
02:50been able to do.
02:52So the more we learn about these animals, the more we know that they need to be left
02:58in the water, in the ocean, where they belong.
03:01We thank the Russian government for making such a brave decision.
03:05They had to face this industry which makes millions of dollars exploiting all Kazan belugas
03:12and selling them to the captivity industry, to dolphin area.
03:16So now, in the future, please do not allow any more captures of all Kazan belugas.
03:23This has to stop.
03:24Dolphin area has to close down.
03:26This industry has to end.
