There's a new trend emerging on bar menus across the country and it doesn't involve alcohol.

This sober curious mixologist explains...

00:00There's a sense of disbelief almost like wow how there's something this complex and this interesting
00:07That doesn't have alcohol in it
00:17Even if you, you know can't dream of not skipping your glass of wine every day or whatever
00:23Even if you think it might not be for you
00:25There's still some really interesting stuff and it opens your mind to like new ways of having a delicious life
00:43Over the course of my time behind the bar
00:45I noticed that there was kind of a lack of a lot of credible non-alcoholic drinks and when we added
00:51Alcohol-free drinks to the menus the response was really positive and people started ordering them and were really enjoying them
01:21It's about just giving people options and also showing people that like that
01:25It's really the overall experience of the drink and the environment and the people that you're with and what you're doing
01:30That really has a really important impact on the drink itself and not necessarily
01:35Whether they're on the alcohol or not
01:44I guess I want people to feel as though there's something
01:47Really interesting happening
01:49In the glass like so for me, like I'm not really super concerned with any sort of functional benefits from any of the ingredients
01:55It's really just about the flavor
01:57It's about just creating a really delicious product and everything else kind of a secondary to that. So I want people just to feel
02:03delicious
02:05for lack of a better term
02:17There's a lot going on and more than just people who just categorically don't drink are becoming interested
02:23It's also just I think in general people are curious to have more options
02:28And so it's just a new territory
