00:00It was just a simple idea I had, what if there was a shoe that could grow?
00:04It came from an idea I had about 10 years ago after I lived in a small orphanage in
00:23Kenya.
00:24I was walking with all the kids and there was a little girl next to me.
00:29She was probably 7 or 8 years old.
00:31I was shocked at how small her shoes were.
00:35She actually had to cut open the front of her shoes to let her toes stick out.
00:47The kids can actually adjust it in three places.
00:51They can adjust the front.
00:53They can adjust the side with these Velcro straps on either side and then they can also
01:00adjust the back with this buckle.
01:17The first is just overall health.
01:19At the orphanage, we actually had two kids who received a hookworm, which is this terrible
01:25little disease from a worm that enters the body often through the feet.
01:31Education is another issue with shoes.
01:33For many schools, they require a school uniform and shoes are a mandatory part of that uniform.
01:40So if kids don't have shoes, often they're not allowed to go to school.
01:54We really believe that the shoe that grows is a small thing that makes a big difference
02:00and we believe in the power of small things.
