After more than two years of working in the Middle East as a domestic helper,
00:14
Leslie Gay Diaz, 34, returned to the country.
00:20
But instead of staying at home in Basilan, he went home.
00:24
He was sent to a hospital in Zamboanga City to treat the wounds in various parts of his body.
00:32
Leslie was a victim of the abuse of his ex-girlfriend in Saudi Arabia.
00:40
In June 2022, he decided to work in Saudi Arabia as a domestic helper.
00:47
His first year in the hospital was fine.
00:52
But in the second year, that's when the abuse of his ex-girlfriend started.
01:16
In two years, how many times did he get hurt in his memory?
01:21
A lot, almost every day.
01:24
Leslie's other wounds left a lasting mark on him.
01:34
He took this picture in 2021 before he left for the Middle East.
01:40
He took this picture in 2021 before he left for the Middle East.
01:45
But now, he is almost unrecognizable.
01:51
He had a lot of wounds on his head.
01:54
That's why he needed a scalpel to quickly heal the wounds.
01:58
The scars on his arms and hands were also noticeable,
02:02
which had the effect of penetrating the implant.
02:06
He also had scars on his back.
02:09
Because of the stabbing of a scissor.
02:12
He also needed to shave his head,
02:15
after he was stabbed by his employer, the butcher.
02:19
His employer also stabbed his left eye,
02:23
as a reason for his blindness.
02:25
What really marked your mind
02:29
that your employer did a lot to that woman?
02:32
The stabbing of my eye and the stabbing of my head,
02:36
I can't see it anymore.
02:39
It's gone.
02:41
What did the doctors say about your head injury?
02:44
It's just a little fractured on the head and here on the mouth.
02:49
It's a big thought for him,
02:51
what is the reason for the stabbing of the butcher.
02:54
Why is he so brutal to you?
02:56
I don't know why he did that to me.
02:59
It just happened suddenly,
03:01
when I was 2 years old,
03:03
it started with the stabbing of me.
03:06
Because of the mistreatment of his employer,
03:10
in December 2024,
03:12
Leslie decided to ask for help from his employer.
03:16
He told me,
03:18
in 2 weeks, I will cure you,
03:20
you will recover,
03:22
then I will send you back to the Philippines.
03:24
That's what he said.
03:28
And just on January 27,
03:31
Leslie returned to the Philippines.
03:33
When we talked to him last week,
03:36
he said that he has been recovering in a hospital in Zamboanga City for a month.
03:41
Who is paying your hospital bills now?
03:46
We asked for help from the government.
03:49
How big is your hospital bill?
03:51
It's already more than P100,000.
03:53
How long have you been there?
03:56
We already paid a down payment,
03:59
because it's already more than P300,000.
04:03
Leslie is planning to file a case against his employer.
04:08
He brought his complaint to the Department of Migrant Workers,
04:13
or DMW,
04:15
and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, or OWWA.
04:18
What do you want to happen to the woman who did this to you?
04:24
She will go to jail.
04:30
Just on February 24,
04:33
the OWWA officials went to Leslie.
04:36
They were able to get the details on the situation of the woman.
04:40
They also asked for financial assistance,
04:43
and promised to file a case against Leslie,
04:46
so that justice can be served.
04:48
We are just here because we heard that the woman is missing.
04:53
The post is different.
04:55
We are still looking for her.
04:59
Meanwhile,
05:01
we tried to contact the recruitment agency
05:04
that sent Leslie to the Middle East.
05:07
Although the agency is registered
05:10
with the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency, or POEA,
05:13
we were able to contact their office
05:16
when we went to their address in Pasay City.
05:21
We then went to their office in Quezon City.
05:25
The recruitment agency did not give an interview.
