00:00The Presidential Communications Office is now pushing for tighter regulations on social media platforms in the country.

00:08In the continuation of the hearing of the House Tri-Committee today,

00:12PCO Secretary Jay Ruiz insisted that in order to prevent fake news and other misdeeds in the country,

00:19it is important to implement new policies on online platforms.

00:23It is necessary for our countrymen to protect themselves from cybercrime.

00:28That is why the government should look at the rules here.

00:33On behalf of PCO, Ruiz insisted that they are already taking action on this issue.

00:40The issue of fake news, illegal gambling, deep fakes, pornography, hate speech

00:47is the biggest fight right now of our generation.

00:51It destroys the very fabric of our society and we have to protect our children

00:56not only from fake news but all these bad things that we see in this technology platform that we have.

01:05But more on the vloggers, we should concentrate our regulation on the platforms.

01:14The platforms like Meta, TikTok, YouTube are foreign platforms.

01:21They do not have a base here.

01:24When you complain for these posts that we can take down, it takes a long time.

01:31So we have to focus on the platforms first of all to self-regulate them.
