00:00So it's a routine, an espresso followed by reading the TDN and then hitting the sails

00:13Get up around 6 o'clock, get my fruit and coffee in and hit the sail ground with a pep

00:19of my step to look at horses.

00:27Get here as early as I can, try and be the first one looking.

00:30Check the horses that I'm selling and then usually I'm on my feet, you know, looking

00:33at horses all day.

00:35It just depends whether I'm buying or selling really, but yeah.

00:38On my feet, on the move, buying, selling, keeping busy and then, yeah, I don't party

00:42too hard actually so I'm kind of home to bed.

00:47Get up at half four, go and help the guys with the box, take my shower and go for a

00:53walk.

00:54Wake up with a hot cup of tea and head to sails early, work really hard all day, never

01:00sit down and at the end of the day, a nice glass of wine.

01:05Getting up early, try to get organized because I usually don't get organized the night before.

01:10I'm a more morning person so better to start early and get started before beginning the

01:16sail.

01:17I've always enjoyed to come very early because I love to see the day coming up here and you

01:21have your coffee, a croissant when everything is ready and you see all the horses and things

01:25like that and then the routine, you know, a routine is a routine.

01:31Keep the faith.

01:33When I was in the post-university kind of period trying to get a job in racing and struggling,

01:39I ended up, well, yeah, I was a groundsman at Salter Racecourse and the boss there, Jeremy

01:45Martin, I then was applying for jobs, didn't get a lot of jobs and I then started applying

01:49for jobs in the city to work in finance and he said to me, don't do that, keep the faith,

01:55you'll be alright and now I'm stood here so he was right.

02:00Oh, erm, you have two ears and one mouth so I've listened twice as much as you speak.

02:08I assume it makes an asset of you and me.

02:12The obvious one is work hard but probably try and give as much time to your family as

02:16you can because that's easily forgettable.

02:19Go big because we all go home.

02:23Never leave a page, a pedigree page, with only bad comments on.

02:29Just always try to find something positive about a horse, even if you hate that horse,

02:34try to find something positive to say about that horse.

02:38Work hard and the harder you work, the luckier you get.
