Olympic sustainability key: IOC candidate Lappartient

David Lappartient is among the candidates hoping to be named the new President of the International Olympic Committee. He says sustainability is key to the future success of the Olympic movement and praised the 2024 Paris Games which saw a 54% reduction in the event’s global footprint.

00:05So we have to address this properly and also in order to keep the full support behind the games.

00:12But for this, look at, for example, what Paris 2024 has done.

00:17They reduced by 54% the carbon footprint.

00:22And that's huge, that's huge and massive.

00:25And many other topics, I can go through all the sustainability report of Paris 2024.

00:31But I do believe that Paris 2024 brought really a new era for the Olympic Games.

00:38And for sure LA will continue because we saw all these big fires.

00:43That was terrible and then it was not summertime.

00:47And so of course we have to be consistent on this topic and to continue what has been done over the last years.
