Express & Star senior reporter James Vukmirovic reports from outside the block of flats in Smethwick where nine people were taken to hospital after suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Transcript
00:00Hello, I'm James Firminovich and I'm here at Furze Road in Smedley. The block of flats
00:05behind me was the scene of an incident on Sunday just gone where a group of people were
00:09taken to hospital with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. I've just been speaking to a couple
00:14who didn't want to be named or identified but they told me about what happened. They
00:17said how they were feeling unwell, they started to feel like their children were unwell, they
00:24were vomiting and all those sorts of symptoms that you get. But they were lucky because
00:29they went out to Birmingham airport and as they came back they found ambulances, police
00:34and other emergency services around here. It's been reported that nobody else has come
00:38back yet. All the people who were affected by this were either being accommodated elsewhere
00:44in hotel accommodation or somewhere like that or they're still in hospital. So that's the
00:48situation going forward.
