00:10political analysts.

00:12Yes, the main, let's say, friction between South Africa and the US, this now goes back

00:19to early 2024, is the International Court of Justice case against Israel's genocide

00:26of Palestinians.

00:27And that would imply that the United States, the main supporter of Israel, is complicit

00:33in a genocide.

00:34So the US would like South Africa to withdraw the case.

00:37But most of the rest of the world wants South Africa to keep having leadership.

00:41The US foreign minister, Marco Rubio, said that the ambassador from South Africa to the

00:48US knew in the job that he'd served before, Ibram Rasool, was not being diplomatic enough

00:53because he essentially accused Donald Trump of inspiring a worldwide movement of white

00:59racists.

01:00Patrick Bond, who is a political analyst from South Africa, is now calling upon all other

01:05African states to stand up together to push against what he termed as Trump's bullying.

01:10That's a signal that they will be bullies, they will get away with it, they will throw

01:14out an ambassador for simply being honest.

01:17All the continent should stand up against this bullying.

01:21The new US government led by Donald Trump has also been embroiled in other tariff wars

01:26against his former allies like Canada and Mexico.
