00:06courteously following an incident in Johor where a man allegedly slapped a non-Muslim

00:11for eating in public during Ramadan.

00:14Nougat Dhot said such an act is not only against the law but also tarnishes Islam's image

00:20as a religion of compassion and kindness.

00:24He emphasized that Islam does not advocate the use of force in offering advice or spreading

00:29its teachings.

00:30Instead, Prophet Mohammed exemplified a gentle, wise and considerate approach in his preaching.

00:38Nougat stressed that non-Muslims have the right to eat and drink in public during Ramadan

00:43as long as it is done respectfully, without intent to insult or provoke.

00:49Police have launched an investigation into the incident under Section 323 of the Penal

00:54Code for Voluntarily Causing Hurt, punishable with imprisonment for up to a year, a maximum

01:00fine of 2000 ringgit or both upon conviction.
