Robbie Fowler feels Liverpool were lucky to only lose 2-1 to Newcastle United in Sunday's Carabao Cup final.

00:00It's a major final and obviously every player didn't show up other than probably Virgil, if I'm being honest.

00:05And that's the disappointment thing, you know.

00:08You can be really despondent about losing games, of course, and losing finals.

00:14But the fact is that you were never really in the game sort of makes it a little bit easier to accept defeat, if that makes sense.

00:22For whatever reason, whether it's been the culmination of playing lots of games in so many days,

00:28mental tiredness or physical tiredness, that could have played a part.

00:33But I just think Newcastle were the better team, so I don't think anyone watching the game would have any complaints if you were a Liverpool fan.

00:41Because you put your hand up and say there was a game there to be won, but Newcastle were by far the better team.

00:50And if we're being honest, 2-1 flattered Liverpool.

00:53It wasn't a 2-1 scoreline.

00:55It could have been more.

00:57I think certainly from an offensive point of view, we're not the Liverpool that we've seen this season.
