How do you think Fargate is looking now as it gets nearer completion?

00:00How do you think Fargate is looking now that it's starting to take shape a little bit more?

00:04I think it's looking a lot cleaner and tidier and it's been a long time coming.

00:09However, I feel that it needs a lot more shops, a lot more accessible shops,

00:22and it needs a lot more footfall on Fargate.

00:27It's nice making it all nice and acceptable and presentable,

00:34but unless it's going to get used, unless there's any high-quality shops on here,

00:39I don't see where it's going to go.

00:41It's just a thoroughfare at the moment and nothing more than that, really.

00:45Yeah, I like that they've put some flowers and greenery in.

00:49We were just saying it looks a bit deep, though.

00:51It might fill up. If it rains any heavier, you might end up with ponds.

00:56Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

00:58But I think it's great. They're starting to really do stuff with town and I hope it brings people in.

01:04Yeah, I think it's going to be a nice place to come and shop.

01:07Hopefully, we'll get a few more shops along here, so it'll be worth coming down here.

01:13I think it's looking a lot better. I think it's going to look really, really nice.

01:17There's a few things that seem a little bit strange.

01:20They should have gone for more of the inner-city living.

01:24They should have gone for more of the Madrid option where they had the cafes and tables in the centre of Fargate.

01:29So, there was somewhere to sit instead of these rubbish dumps that they've created.

01:34And I think that the bins were a really silly idea because I think they're going to have cost us probably a couple of million pounds.

01:40And machinery required to actually get rid of the rubbish is going to be, they told me, half a million pounds for the machine.

01:47And if it breaks, it just doesn't seem like money well spent.

01:50But other than that, it looks really nice.

01:53It looks nice, but I don't think the money was officially spent in the way they've managed it.

01:58Well, I've always thought that they were a little bit slow in redeveloping this place.

02:06But I'm glad to see they've started making headway.
