Belgian police has searched the Brussels headquarters of Huawei and several homes in a major corruption
00:08
investigation linked to the European Parliament.
00:13
According to reports, 15 current or previous MEPs might be targeted in the case and some
00:20
arrests have been already made.
00:24
Investigators suspect that members of the network received bribes in exchange for influencing
00:29
EU decision-making in Huawei's favour.
00:36

00:41
didn't put in the necessary reforms that they should have to prevent the next scandal and
00:45
here we are today.
00:46

00:51
lucrative side jobs to be had by MEPs, there will always be this risk.
00:55
Belgian prosecutors sealed the offices of two assistants to MEPs and notified the Parliament's
01:01
president about the proceedings.
01:04
The Parliament's press service said they will cooperate with the investigators.
01:11
The European Parliament's reputation suffered a serious blow three years ago when a corruption
01:16
ring working to promote the interests of Qatar was dismantled.
01:23
One thing is for sure for this EU institution, there will be a huge reputational damage in
01:29
the coming weeks.
