00:00Belgian police has searched the Brussels headquarters of Huawei and several homes in a major corruption

00:08investigation linked to the European Parliament.

00:13According to reports, 15 current or previous MEPs might be targeted in the case and some

00:20arrests have been already made.

00:24Investigators suspect that members of the network received bribes in exchange for influencing

00:29EU decision-making in Huawei's favour.

00:36This comes as no surprise because in the wake of the Qatargate scandal, the Parliament simply

00:41didn't put in the necessary reforms that they should have to prevent the next scandal and

00:45here we are today.

00:46Until there are rules in place that prevent gifts being received, travel being paid for,

00:51lucrative side jobs to be had by MEPs, there will always be this risk.

00:55Belgian prosecutors sealed the offices of two assistants to MEPs and notified the Parliament's

01:01president about the proceedings.

01:04The Parliament's press service said they will cooperate with the investigators.

01:11The European Parliament's reputation suffered a serious blow three years ago when a corruption

01:16ring working to promote the interests of Qatar was dismantled.
