Minister confirms negotiations are underway amid US tariffs

Technology Secretary Peter Kyle confirmed that negotiations are underway between the UK and the US. Addressing the 25% tariff on all steel and aluminium imports to the US which came into effect this week, Mr Kyle said: "We're working really hard on an economic deal with the US. 00:03We've done that now for some time.

00:05The meeting that the Prime Minister had with President Trump was a fruitful one,

00:09and we're now working away at some of the detail underneath it,

00:11and that engagement is going on.

00:13And if you look at the high-growth areas for both of our countries,

00:17we're looking at AI and we're looking at some areas of technology.

00:21We're looking at the space industry.

00:22We're looking at some critical technologies like quantum infusion.

00:25These are all things that America is leading at,

00:28and I think Britain has leading expertise too.
