Mark Kelly: This Is The 'Best Path Forward' To Avoid Government Shutdown

Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) explains how Democrats might support a CR to avoid a government shutdown.

00:00I think the American people should realize that the best path forward here is to do what

00:06we normally do, which is appropriations bills, which sometimes we have to do a short-term

00:10CR to get there.

00:12We could pass a 28-day CR, and then we could pass the appropriations bills that have come

00:17out of the subcommittees on appropriations, bipartisan bills.

00:21That makes sense.

00:23That funds the government the way we all agree to.

00:26The other two options are bad options.

00:29If we shut down the government, that's generally considered by many people as not a good thing

00:36to do.

00:38And especially in this environment, when we have an unelected billionaire that's already

00:41shutting down parts of the government, the president could certainly give him the authority

00:46— this wouldn't surprise me — where Elon Musk gets to decide what gets opened back

00:51up.
