Sekinchan storm: Fatal crash claims one life, 30 homes damaged

A 39-year-old man lost control of his car and crashed into a four-wheel-drive during heavy downpour at KM 70, Klang-Teluk Intan Road, Sekinchan, Selangor, on Tuesday (March 12) evening, resulting in his death. 00:00A 39-year-old man was killed after losing control of his car and colliding with a four-wheel

00:07drive vehicle at kilometre 70 Klang Teluk Intan Road on Tuesday evening.

00:13Sabak Bernam District Police Chief Superintendent Mad Yusof Ahmad told Berita Harian that the

00:19crash occurred around 5pm near the Serkincan Fire and Rescue Station during heavy rain,

00:25with the victim pronounced dead at the scene.

00:28The accident is believed to have happened when the Toyota Vios, driven by the victim

00:33and travelling from Klang to Teluk Intan, skidded due to slippery road conditions.

00:39He said the vehicle veered to the right, crossed the road divider and entered the opposite

00:44lane.

00:45A Toyota Hilux, carrying a 41-year-old man and his 43-year-old wife, was unable to avoid

00:51the victim's car and crashed into it.

00:54The victim's body has been sent to Sabak Bernam Hospital for a post-mortem.

00:59The case is being investigated under section 41, sub-section 1 of the Road Transport Act

01:25In response, the District Disaster Management Committee activated a temporary evacuation

01:30centre at Dewan Seri Serkincan at 4.50pm to shelter those affected.

01:36Sabak Bernam District Disaster Management Committee Chairman Ali Sadiqin Sadeen stated

01:42that all relevant agencies have been instructed to remain on high alert to manage the situation
