00:00Are you looking for a food spot that can offer you a breakfast to bar?
00:05Well, this is the coast cafe in Banawe, Quezon City.
00:11This is the recent discovery of the newest celebrity food explorer that we will be joining today.
00:16One of the leading men of the newest GMA Afternoon series that is being marketed,
00:22Kevin Dasom.
00:31We are located in Banawe.
00:33So, the busy streets every day with all the, well, car stores and somewhat,
00:39those are Chinese restaurants where we go and eat and then we leave.
00:43So, we don't have the opportunity to sit down and feel a bit relaxed.
00:47And that's why we created this to make it,
00:51to at least make a cozy place to go in Banawe amidst the hustle and bustle of Banawe.
01:01So, today we are at the Coast Cafe on Banawe Street in Quezon City.
01:05We're going to try these beautiful drinks, beautiful desserts.
01:08And, yeah, we'll just get right into it.
01:11I'm going to try the caramel-based coffee.
01:13You can see there's popcorn on it.
01:15It's a unique twist to a cafe dessert.
01:19Yo, this is good.
01:20Okay, now I'm going to try.

01:31Okay, now this one might be a little bit healthier.

01:49Outside of these, I'll call them sweet drinks, right?

01:54We have some nice cocktails.
01:56This one, heard earlier, tamarind twist cocktail.
01:59You can see there's a nice little tamarind on top.
02:02The density in the liquids, so they don't really mix,
02:05but they do mix, but not really.
02:08I'm going to give it a nice little stir.
02:14Pretty good, pretty good.
02:15Never had this drink in my life, but I like it.
02:19Normally we don't eat the mints in a cocktail,
02:21but I really like this mint.
02:23I really like the herbs and everything.
02:27Alcohol is not too strong.
02:28Sweetness is to a, I would say, perfect amount.
02:32Minimum for me.
02:33And this one, the most interesting drink.

03:04So, that's a good thing I did that.

03:22As you can see by the look on my face,
03:24this is a very, very interesting drink to me.
03:27But this is a good time.
03:28If you're looking for, let's say, you're a little bit full,
03:32you're a little bit drowsy, you have this, boom, you're awake.
03:35All right, you can hit the next spot right after.
03:38Next, we have our desserts.
03:40The turon, fried banana wrapped in flour.
03:43A delicious delicacy.
03:45They have something like this in my hometown in Thailand,
03:48but not like this, just similar.
03:51And the turons here in the Philippines are just a little bit better
03:55because look at the size, you know, it's just a little bit thicker.
04:03And it's really good.
04:04There's something else in here.
04:05Is this sweet potato?
04:06Purple yam.

04:08Okay, so it's banana, purple yam, some nice rice-based wrapping.
04:15Now, finally, gonna try, this is called a knickerbocker,
04:20native to the Latin province of Asia, Zamboanga.
04:25I've never had this.
04:26It's similar to a halo-halo.
04:28Similar, but with its own little twist.
04:31There's a lot more fruit in here than in a halo-halo.
04:33I'll give it that.
04:42That tastes like, what is it, melon, banana, mango.
04:47Is there watermelon?
04:50And strawberry ice cream at the bottom is a green jelly.
04:53Give me some green jelly.
04:56Definitely more fruity than my halo-halo taste that I've had.
05:00And this one, because of no ice, I think it's just easier to consume.
05:04And in my opinion, just a good time because of the ice cream,
05:08because of the fruits, because of the jelly.
05:11So here in the Coast Cafe, outside of the wonderful desserts,
05:15drinks, and cocktails, we also have breakfast and barn style of food.
05:21So I'm gonna go ahead and try the hoisin beef noodles first.
05:30Yo, that's pretty good.
05:34I need to ask the chef what the secret recipe in this is.
05:37Now, the creamy carbonara.
05:40The secret to having a nice creamy carbonara is breaking the egg yolk,
05:46this nice little poached egg.
05:48Here we go.
05:53Definitely creamy.
05:55Then you have some nice sourdough bread.

06:06Now, this chicken is way out of my league.
06:09This people's chicken is way out of my league.
06:11So I'm just gonna try a french fry first.

06:19Oh my god, that is some good fried chicken.
06:22So I'm just gonna try some techon kawale,
06:24some nice garlic rice and some vinegar dip with some garlic.
06:30Oh, that rice is good.
06:32Oh my goodness.
06:34Okay, I need to have a cooking lesson with the chef here.
06:44Wow.
06:46You know, I don't think I can say too many good things about the food.
06:52You know, it is, like I mentioned earlier,
06:54it is breakfast barn style of food.
06:57High protein, high carbohydrates.
07:00You know, this is a feel-good food.
